The story begins with some scrolling on Tiktok - that was where I found the producer 808Wrld and eventually followed him on Instagram as well as Tiktok. A few months passed and I eventually reached out to him to collaborate on songs, and we would continue to produce beats together. Later on, 808Wrld told me that he was traveling from Seattle to NYC for a weekend of studio sessions (September 2024) with his artist YRS Boogz and some artists from Texas, so I invited him to my studio Musewav. For our Friday and Saturday sessions, we were primarily recording YRS Boogz and the artists from Texas, but Sunday was the day YRS Boogz brought Fivio Foreign over to the studio to collaborate on their to-be-released record.

I was the assistant-engineer for the session, and recorded Fivio Foreign's vocals with the head engineer Bobby using the software Pro Tools. During the session, I was blown away by the speed of Fivio Foreign's workflow - the quality of his recordings were immediate and barely required any retakes or edits for Bobby and I to work on. I immediately could understand why he was at the level of a Billboard charting artist, and Bobby later told me: "I noticed Fivio Foreign is arranging lyrics in a way the Beatles have done - he consistently and intentionally contextualizes his lyrics with the instrumental." For example, when he says a strong, violent word like "gun", he is always placing those kinds of words on powerful down-beats with the kick and 808. Additionally, in this case a gunshot sound effect was also playing on those downbeats, and his consistency of timing with his words showed how intentional he was with his delivery along the instrumental's palette of emotions.

After we had recorded Fivio's verse over the drill beat (produced by @808wrld @leo_bmx1 @yvngmonty_), the project's team requested me to produce a sexy drill beat for the first half of the song that would transition into Fivio's verse - a "Travis Scott" kind of beat switch. I proceeded to sample the high-pitched vocal sample of the Fivio beat section, and chopped and rearranged the sample to have a different rhythm and melody. I reversed some sections that I had chopped, and re-pitched certain sections, and from there I created a chord progression and additional melodies with synthesizers. Then I added drums and percussion to finalize the beat. The end result was a sexy drill beat that incorporated the vocal sample theme of the previous drill beat, which cohesively tied the two different-genre beats' sounds together.

I then sent the stems of my beat to 808Wrld to finalize the production and arrangement of the song, and currently my beat has been rearranged as the outro of the song, and is also used as an interlude track for their project. I am looking forward to the song and the interlude getting released!
